Dr. Luis Aznar-García is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist with extensive expertise in advanced radiotherapy techniques, particularly Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy (SABR/SBRT). He leads the Brain SRS, Body SABR, and Hepatobiliary (HPB) Radiotherapy services at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) and has been instrumental in establishing the East Midlands Brain Metastases MDT and SRS Service.
With over 25 years of clinical experience, Dr. Aznar has treated more than 2,000 patients using stereotactic radiotherapy techniques, including Gamma Knife, CyberKnife, MR-guided radiotherapy (MRIdian), and LINAC-based platforms. He specializes in the management of brain metastases, oligometastatic disease, and HPB tumors.
Previously, he served as Head of Radiotherapy at Leicester University Hospitals, where he developed the SABR Oligometastases Service, and as Head of Radiotherapy and Radiosurgery at Ruber International Hospital in Madrid. He has also played a key role in the private healthcare sector as Genesis Care UK SABR Clinical Advisor and SRS Clinical Lead, setting up the SRS service at Oxford Genesis Care.
Academic & Research Contributions
Dr. Aznar is an Honorary (Consultant) Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham, where he supervises MD and PhD research projects related to SRS and SABR. He has been involved in numerous clinical trials, including CORE, ABC-07, OligoRare, SARON, HALT, and SPARC, some of them as Principal Investigator. He also contributes to the Genome England Clinical Interpretation Partnership (GeCIP).
He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles in leading medical journals and presented his research at international oncology conferences. Additionally, he is an Associate Editor for several prestigious oncology journals and a member of multiple international oncological societies, including ESTRO, ISRS, ESMO, RCR, and SEOR.
