Our Services
Systemic treatments for cancer are therapies that involve the entire body, aiming to target and treat cancer cells that may have spread from the original site (metastasized). These treatments can also be used in patients undergoing curative treatment alongside other treatments such as surgery and radiotherapy. These treatments are often contrasted with local treatments like surgery or radiotherapy, which only target the tumour site. These are the main types of systemic cancer treatments that we offer to patients
We provide a comprehensive array of oncology services, including:
-
- Chemotherapy: Chemotherapy drugs work by trying to kill or stop the growth of cancer cells by interfering with their ability to divide and grow. Chemotherapy can be administered intravenously (IV), orally, or through other methods. (Common Side Effects: Nausea, hair loss, fatigue, weakened immune system, and risk of infections)
-
- Targeted Therapy: These treatments target specific molecules or genes involved in cancer cell growth. These therapies are more selective than chemotherapy, aiming to block cancer cell processes or stimulate immune responses against cancer cells. Some examples include monoclonal antibodies, small molecule inhibitors. (Common Side Effects: Fatigue, diarrhoea, liver problems, rashes)
-
- Immunotherapy: Immunotherapy drugs boost the body’s immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells more effectively. It can involve immune checkpoint inhibitors, CAR-T cell therapy, or vaccines (Common Side Effects: Fatigue, skin reactions, colitis, endocrine disorders, and inflammation in various organs e.g., lungs, liver, colon)
-
- Hormone Therapy: Hormone treatments block or lowers the amount of hormones (like estrogen or testosterone) that drive certain cancers, particularly breast and prostate cancers. Hormone therapy may include medications or surgical removal of hormone-producing organs (Common Side Effects: Hot flashes, mood swings, bone thinning, weight gain, and fatigue)
